Yakushicho sits between two of Kyoto's defining historic landmarks: Nijo Castle and the Kyoto Imperial Palace.

The House
One House, Two Rhythms.
Staying together does not mean everyone has to follow the same schedule.
Its two-storey layout gives everyone room to share time together while still keeping their own routine. On the ground floor, the LDK, dining space and garden-facing tatami room form the social heart of the house, while a bathroom and toilet on the same floor make it easy for one group to settle in for the night without going upstairs.
Upstairs, two further bedrooms are joined by a lounge, Mini Bar, a second bathroom and a second toilet, so guests can wind down for the night without disturbing anyone still spending time below.
For two families, multi-generational groups or several couples travelling together, the house makes it possible to share the journey without having to follow exactly the same schedule.

Bedrooms
Three Bedrooms, Space to Settle In.
With three separate bedrooms, families, couples and multi-generational groups can stay together without giving up privacy at night.
One bedroom is on the ground floor close to the garden. Two more are upstairs, alongside the second bathroom, toilet and lounge.
Garden
Not Just a Garden to Look At.
At the entrance, the garden first appears as a distant patch of green at the far end of the house. Through the dining room and layered doorways, it draws the eye deeper inside.
As the day unfolds, the garden remains present — at breakfast, over tea and as you move between rooms. Only at the deepest part of the machiya, from the tatami room and engawa, does it become fully intimate.
You do not simply see the garden. Little by little, the house leads you closer until you are living beside it.
Dining / Kitchen
A Shared Table at the Centre of the House.
The dining and kitchen area sits near the front of the machiya, creating a natural gathering place. From here, the house unfolds toward the living spaces, tatami room and garden beyond.
It is a place for breakfast, tea, an easy meal or a long conversation at the end of the day.
